Seven new cases of Covid-19 brings Manitoba total to 103

Manitoba Public Health announced on Tuesday March 31, 2020 that 7 additional cases of Covid-19 have been identified bringing the total number of confirmed and probable cases to 103.

The number of deaths related to the virus remains at one in Manitoba.

As of today three people are currently in hospital including two people being treated within the Intensive Care Unit.

To date four people have received from the virus.

8,914, have been tested so far of which 378 were tested on Monday.

Manitoba chief provincial public health officer, Dr. Brent Roussin reported that a person working at Selkirk Regional Health Centre has a confirmed case of covid-19.

The staff member worked in the emergency department and medicine wards between March 19- March 23. Public health officials are investigating the case and will be in contact with all staff and patients who may have had prolonged contact with the individual.

Dates and times of possible exposure include:

  • March 19 from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Selkirk Regional Health Centre Emergency Department;
  • March 20 from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Selkirk Regional Health Centre Emergency Department;
  • March 21 from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Selkirk Regional Health Centre Emergency Department;
  • March 22 from 11:45 p.m. to March 23 7:45 a.m. in the Selkirk Regional Health Centre Emergency Department.

Public health is advising people to limit their travel in Manitoba to essential trips only. They are advising people to avoid going to cottages and similar seasonal properties due to the possible strain on smaller health centres if visitors become ill.

Manitoba’s health system is continuing with Covid-19 preparations and is asking for donations of the following supplies:

  •  N95 respirators of various models and sizes, both hospital and industrial grade; 
  • surgical/procedure masks; 
  • gloves; 
  • disposable gowns and 
  • disinfectants and cleaners. 

Supplies must be in original packaging, clean and in useable condition.  Expired supplies are not able to be accepted.
