Seven “Johns” charged as police target men buying sex in the West End

On Thursday, April 5, 2018, police conducted a project in the West End of Winnipeg that targeted people preying on vulnerable individuals working in the sex trade.

Seven men were arrested and had their vehicles seized in the operation. The men aged between 29 and 73 were all charged with Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration and released on a promise to appear.

Police say that six of the accused will be going to “John School” as part of the diversion program.

The WPS Counter Exploitation Unit conducts ongoing operations across the city.
