RCMP in Western Manitoba are investigating a serious collision between two snowmobiles on Saturday March 9, 2019.

Police say it happened around 6:30 pm in a field east of Highway 340 in the RM of Oakland-Wawanesa.

A 34-year old male was driving on a trail when he was rear-ended by another snowmobile being driving by a 46-year-old man.

The 34-year old suffered serious injuries and is in hospital in critical condition. The driver of the other snowmobile suffered only minor injuries.

The investigation continues but police say that they believe alcohol played a factor in the collision.
