Manitoba’s police watchdog agency, The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) is looking into a case where an individual suffered a serious injury after interacting with Winnipeg Police.
According to the IIU, officers were called to a home on Carriage Road on Thursday, February 17, 2022, around 10:17 pm. When the officers arrived they were allegedly confronted by a male who became belligerent and aggressive. Police used force to subdue the male. The male was taken to hospital where it was determined he had a fractured humerus.
The IIU was contacted and is mandated to investigate as this injury is considered serious.
