Serious Collision on Main Street Leaves Pedestrian Critically Injured

A serious traffic collision occurred last night at the intersection of Smithfield Avenue and Main Street, leaving a 57-year-old male in critical condition.

At approximately 9:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to reports of an injured person at the scene. Upon arrival, officers found the male with severe injuries. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service quickly attended to the victim and transported him to the hospital.

Preliminary investigations by the Traffic Division’s Collision Investigation Section revealed that the pedestrian was crossing Main Street against a red light when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. The adult driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

This incident remains under investigation.
