Stars Air Ambulance called in to transport
A major accident with injuries happened on the Trans-Canada Highway at Highway 16 just west of Portage La Praire on Saturday, August 19, 2017 just after 1:00 pm.
Traffic was detoured around the scene as emergency crews worked to treat those injured.
RCMP say that a minivan with five passengers was attempting to make a left hand turn onto Highway 16 when it collided with a semi travelling westbound on Highway 1.
A 36-year-old male and a 13-year-old male, both passengers, died at the scene. A 10-year-old male was taken to hospital with critical injuries but has since died.
The 35-year-old female driver and an 8-year-old male passenger have been taken to hospital in critical condition but are now stable.
All five in the minivan are from Carberry.
Police say that the 62-year-old driver of the semi sustained minor injuries.
Investigators say that everyone was wearing seatbelts and alcohol was not a factor in the collision
Stars Air Ambulance was dispatched to the scene to transport critically injured patients.

Police have said that traffic will be delayed in the area as a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continues to process the scene.
