Septic Truck Stolen in Ebb and Flow First Nation, Female Suspect Arrested

On May 20, 2024, at approximately 9:20 am, the Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP received a report of a stolen septic truck from Ebb and Flow First Nation. The female suspect was last seen driving the vehicle on Provincial Road 278.

An RCMP officer, while en route to the call, spotted the stolen truck as it ran a stop sign at the intersection of Provincial Road 278 and Highway 68. The truck then headed westbound on Highway 68, towards Ste. Rose du Lac. Despite the officer’s attempt to initiate a traffic stop, the driver of the septic truck did not comply. The truck was driven erratically, veering into the oncoming lane of traffic, forcing several motorists off the road. Thankfully, no collisions occurred and no physical injuries were reported.

The officers managed to stop the vehicle by deploying a spike belt. The truck ended up in a ditch, prompting the female driver, the lone occupant of the septic truck, to flee on foot. After a brief foot chase, officers were able to apprehend the suspect.

The suspect, a 29-year-old female from Dauphin, was charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police, and Dangerous Driving. She was subsequently released from custody.

The stolen septic truck was recovered by officials from Ebb and Flow First Nation. The investigation into this incident continues.
