Selkirk woman dead in two-vehicle collision on Highway 44

An 87 year-old female was killed in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 44 and Provincial Road 206 on Monday, October 11, 2021.

Police say the collision happened around 7:15 pm and they have determined that the victim was travelling northbound on PR 206 and had stopped at Highway 44. As she proceeded across the highway her vehicle was hit by an eastbound pickup truck.

The female driver from Selkirk was pronounced dead at the scene. The 62-year-old male driver of the pickup truck from Beausejour was arrested at the scene and charged for his alleged involvement with Impaired Driving Causing Death.

He was transported to hospital with minor injuries and has since been released from hospital and custody. He is scheduled to appear in a Selkirk courtroom on December 17, 2021.

RCMP contine to investigate.
