Similar Selkirk robberies might be by the same suspect

Two similar robberies in Selkirk that happened hours apart could be linked.

Police say on Saturday May 11, 2019 a lone male went into a Morris Avenue business in Selkirk wearing a mask and robbed it at knifepoint getting away with several items. It happened just before 7:30 pm and police say the suspect fled the area on a bicycle after the robbery.

A little more than three and a half hours later a second business reported a robbery, this time on Main Street. Once again a lone man wearing a mask entered the business and walked around while carrying a knife. The suspect left without taking anything.

Although the incidents are similar police say they cannot confirm if it was the same person who committed both robberies.

Police say that in both robberies the suspect is described as between 5’5″ and 5’9″ tall with a slim build and possibly in their 20s or 30s. In both incidents, the suspect was also wearing a black balaclava. In the second robbery, it was noted that the suspect was wearing a brown winter jacket and blue jeans with holes and black shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call RCMP at 204-482-1222.
