“SECURITY REASONS” WHY PREMIER WONT SHARE HOW HE COMMUNICATES WHEN IN COSTA RICA

Premier uses “security reasons” excuse to sidestep opposition questions

Premier Brian Pallister has refused to answer opposition and media questions on how he stays in touch with his office while vacationing in Costa Rica citing “security reasons”.

The premier has stated on more than one occasion that he does not like to use email and prefers to have conversations on the phone.

Opposition NDP justice critic Andrew Swan asked Pallister at a legislature committee which of his staff and caucas members he has spoken with by phone when he was down south.

The premier refused to share how he communicates with staff while he is away but said he regularly stays in touch and covers all the costs for the communication himself.

The NDP obtained documents under the freedom of Information act that show no records of calls made between Pallister and three senior staff during his last four trips to the Central America country using his government-issued cellphone.
