Manitobans who received their second COVID-19 vaccination by September 6, 2021, were entered into the provincial Vax to Win Lottery. Today the winners of that lottery were announced and 17 Manitobans shared in cash and scholarships worth $950,000.
“While only a few people were fortunate enough to win a lottery prize, we have all benefited from the decisions we made to protect ourselves, our families and our communities. As Manitoba is now in the fourth wave of the pandemic, we can truly see how essential the vaccine is in providing as much protection as possible,” said Crown Services Minister Jeff Wharton.
The seven adult $100,000 winners are:
- Cuba Bazimya, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority;
- Inderjit Virdi, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority;
- Michaelle Cruz, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority;
- Gertie Bruce, Interlake–Eastern Regional Health Authority;
- Edward Queskekapow, Northern Regional Health Authority;
- James Hopfner, Prairie Mountain Health; and
- Russell Peters, Southern Health–Santé Sud.
The 10 $25,000 scholarship winners are:
- Tristan Plourde;
- Levi Alexander;
- Christian Anthony Dizon;
- Theo Friesen;
- Ellen Clark;
- Drew Hall;
- Aubrey Trenholm;
- Oluwademilade (Demmy) Oni;
- Sara Dixon; and
- Paul Concha.
