Second suspect arrested in Canada Day murder

Winnipeg Police have arrested a second suspect in a series of shootings and the murder of Danielle Dawn Cote on July 1, 2020.

On Thursday investigators arrested a 14-year-old in connection to four shooting incidents that happened in the early morning hours of July 1st and July 2nd.

Investigators identified a second suspect and arrested a 15-year-old male on Friday afternoon July 3, 2020.

Police say they believe the second suspect was involved in all of the shootings except the one that happened on Isabel Street where a female had been shot at. The 14-year-old is facing charges for that incident, say police

Investigators had little information about that incident on Friday and had asked the public to provide any information regarding it. Officers were able to locate the victim of the shooting, a 17-year-old female.

The 15-year-old has been charged for his alleged involvement with First Degree Murder, Two counts of Attempt to Commit Murder, Aggravated Assault, Discharge a Firearm with Intent and Two counts of Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order.

He was detained in custody.
