An area resident called police after the suspect could be heard crying for help from inside the bin. When police arrived they discovered the teen had become wedged and could not get out of the bin.

She was taken into custody and police found the keys to the stolen vehicle in her possession. The 16-year-old female was arrested and charged for her alleged involvement with Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer, Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited by Order Under Criminal Code.

The investigation was continued by member of the Major Crimes Unit and through the use of DNA evidence gathered from the vehicle officers were able to identify the second suspect.

Police learned the suspect was already behind bars and on Monday February 8, 2021 went to Headingley Correctional Centre and placed him under arrest.

24-year-old Tad Wayne Ivan Cook has been charged for his alleged involvement with Robbery and Aggravated Assault.

He remains in custody.
