Missing fishermen safely located say RCMP

UPDATED

RCMP reported Monday evening that the four fishermen have been safely located. Police say that the 18 foot boat then men were on broke down and they made their way to a different camp in the area.

RCMP and Nelson House Fire and Rescue are searching for four missing fishermen.

According to police the four commercial fishers left Nelson House for a fishing camp at Notigi, Manitoba on June 25, 2021 and have not been heard from since.

On June 26 a supply driver went to the camp but no one was there. The supply driver returned again on June 28 and saw no new activity in the camp and alerted RCMP.

Investigators say that it is unusual for the fishermen to be out on the water this long without returning to the camp.

Police are currently on their way to the camp as Nelson House Fire and Rescue make arrangements for boats and a helicopter to head to the area.

The four missing men have been identified as Larry Moose, 60, from Winnipeg, Glen Spence, 51, from Nelson House, Malcolm Peterson, 51, from Thompson, Scott Leighton, 44 from Nelson House.

Any one with information is asked to call police at (204) 484-2837.
