RCMP, Search and Rescue Manitoba and the Office of the Fire Commissioner are currently on scene in the Whiteshell searching for a missing hiker.
On Wednesday a 33 year old woman from Winnipeg ventured out on a hike along the Mantario Trail to camp for the night at Mantario Lake. She was due back December 1, 2016 but has not returned. Police were called in just after 7:20 pm when the Falcon Lake detachment of the RCMP received a call of an overdue hiker.
RCMP confirm that the woman’s car was located at the head of the Mantario Trail.
The woman is an avid hiker and was apparently well prepared for the elements with food and shelter.
The search continues.
UPDATE:
RCMP report that the missing hiker has been located. She is suffering from a mild case of hypothermia. Search and Rescue crews are with her.
