Scofflaws continue to ignore public health orders

Manitoba continues to warn and fine individuals and businesses who are not following restrictions set out in public health orders related to COVID-19.

Between November 30 and December 6, 2020, enforcement officers issued 285 warnings and 85 tickets to those not complying with the orders.

Nine businesses were fined $5,000 for a various offences while 53 individuals were ticked $1,296 each for breaching restrictions. 15 people were given fines of $298 for failure to wear a mask in an indoor public place.

Manitoba Fist Nations Police also issued 8 band bylaw tickets.

The province says that they are still concerned about large gatherings in private residences and not this is not permitted un the public health orders.

The province announced on Tuesday December 8, 2020, that the current public health orders have been extended until January 8, 2021. Although slight modifications have been made to the orders, gatherings of more that five people from outside your household is not permitted.

Since April enforcement officers have issued fines totalling more than $683,000.
