At 5:33 am members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a fire in a one-and-a-half storey home in the 1000 block of Edderton Avenue.
As crews arrived on the scene they encountered smoke coming from the building and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 6:15 am.
People inside the home were able to get out before firefighters arrived however firefighters rescued a cat left inside and returned it to its owners
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
