A woman in her twenties is recovering in hospital after she was found shot on Sargent Avenue near Beverley Street early Saturday morning, February 26, 2022.
Police were called to the area for reports of gunshots at 12:20 am. The female was located lying on the sidewalk in front of a local convenience store. She was transported to hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable.
A blood trail led officers across the street to an apartment building where a large pool of blood could be seen on the sidewalk.
Police closed Sargent Avenue in both directions between Beverley Street and Simcoe Street for several hours as they investigated.
It was a busy night for police in the area as they were also called to investigate an assault at a home less than a block away shortly after this incident began. Police say the two incidents are not related.
