Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating the death of a woman who was taken to hospital with critical injuries from a Sargent Avenue apartment.
On Tuesday, January 3, 2023, firefighters responded to a blaze in the 700 block of Sargent Avenue around 9:30 am. Crews searched the structure and helped several residents evacuate while other firefighters battled the fire for more than an hour before it was brought under control.
A 23-year-old female, identified as Star Alicia Thomas, died from her injuries in the hospital.
