SAFETY | REVIEW OF BEACH SAFETY AFTER TWO YOUTH DIE AT GRAND BEACH

The province will be reviewing the safety at provincial beaches according to Sustainable Development Minister Cathy Cox.

She said Thursday “We’re going to review the entire program to see how effective it is in light of this enormous tragedy”.

On Monday 12 year old David Medina and 11 year old Jhonalyn Javier drowned at Grand Beach Provincial Park. The parent watching them lost sight of them in the water due to the setting sun. Grand Beach does not have lifeguards but a system of Beach Safety Officers.
