Province says it is safe to swim again at Gimli area beaches

The province has lifted the swimming ban that was put in place at Gimli Beach, Willow Island Beach, Loni Beach and South Beach on Thursday, July 26, 2018.

The restrictions on entering the water were issued after a pipe was damaged on July 24, 2018, and raw sewage had potentially entered a drainage pipe and then flowed to Lake Winnipeg.

Water testing was conducted at the area beaches for E coli.

The province says that the water is safe to swim in and that monitoring will continue.
