Man in custody after standoff on Roseau River First Nation

Manitoba First Nation Police Service responded to a standoff on Sunday, March 17, 2019, after a man was seen live-streaming video while pointing a gun at a person in a home on Roseau River Anishinaabe First nation.

Police arrived on scene and were told that along with the suspect there were three other people inside the home. Officers were able to make contact with the suspect by phone and were eventually able to convince the suspect to turn himself in and end the standoff.

On one was injured but a search of the home by police found an imitation firearm, a sock containing a billiard ball as well as knife.

26-year-old Dakota Alexander has been charged for his alleged involvement with Possess Dangerous Weapon (x3), Carry Imitation Firearm and Point Firearm.

Alexander was detained in custody.
