One person was thrown from a car after a single vehicle rollover on highway 1 just east of Richer this morning. It happened around 5:30 Wednesday morning according to RCMP.
The passenger thrown from the car, a 23 year old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is believed that he was not wearing his seat belt and had been seated in the back seat of the car.
The driver and another passenger, who remained in the vehicle, were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The westbound lanes of the highway were closed as emergency crews worked the scene until about 10 am.
Police believe that alcohol and speed played a factor in the accident.
Police have not said what charges will be laid.
