Robbery victim hit in the head with an axe

Winnipeg police have a 32-year-old male in custody after he attempted to rob a family near Portage Avenue and Main Street on Wednesday evening.

When the suspect’s attempt to rob the victims failed he fled on foot.

Officers were flagged down by a bystander and where able to find the suspect fleeing the area still carrying the weapon. Police used a taser and were able to take the suspect into custody.

The male victim suffered minor injuries but refuse medical attention. The female and child were not hurt.

Ronald Jackie Flett has been charged for his alleged involvement with two counts of Robbery and Fail to Comply with Release Order.

He was detained in custody.
