Fleeing robbery suspects busted after police deploy stop stick

Early Thursday morning, November 8, 2018, officers patrolling in the area of Ellice Avenue and Arlington Street were flagged down by an employee of a store that had just been robbed.

Police saw the vehicle take off and followed it to Portage Avenue and Erin Street where a stop stick was deployed by other officers. The suspect vehicle came to a stop on Portage Avenue a few blocks later.

As police approached the vehicle they noticed a .22 calibre rifle between the driver and passenger.

The 17-year-old female passenger and the 31-year-old male driver were taken into custody and face a number of weapon-related and property crime charges. The driver is also facing charges for driving while disqualified and failing to comply with a Probation Order.

Both suspects were detained in custody
