Robbery Incident in Winnipeg: Suspect Arrested

On the morning of August 18, 2024, at approximately 9:15 a.m., West District General Patrol officers responded to a robbery report near Sanford Street and Sargent Avenue. Upon arrival, they found a 21-year-old female victim with a minor upper-body injury.

Paramedics attended the scene and provided medical treatment to the injured female.

Several passersby directed the police to the 1300 block of Strathcona Street, where they located and arrested a female suspect. The suspect was subsequently handed over to the Major Crimes Unit.

Investigators learned that the victim, a newcomer to the city, had just gotten off a Winnipeg Transit bus near the 1000 block of Empress Street. While walking, she was grabbed from behind by a female suspect attempting to steal her cell phone. When the victim resisted, the suspect assaulted her with a small metal weapon, causing the minor injury.

The incident was determined to be random, as the victim and suspect did not know each other.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Eternity Dawn McCallum of Winnipeg, has been charged for her alleged involvement with robbery and failing to comply with a probation order. She remains in custody.
