Store employees sprayed with mace after capturing robbers

Brandon Police have one youth in custody after a robbery from a business in the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue.

According to police two males went into the business and stole two cases of beer then took off. Two employees from the business gave chase. When the employees caught up to the thieves they were attacked with bear spray. The employees were able to hold on to one of the culprits but the second suspect was able to get away.

A third employee from the business arrived to help out the other two.

Police arrived shortly afterwards and a search of the suspect uncovered a machete and a slingshot.

The 16-year-old youth was arrested and held in custody at Brandon Correctional Centre.

He has been charged for his alleged involvement with Robbery with Violence, Assault with a Weapon X 2, Possess Weapon Dangerous, and Possess Prohibited Weapon.

Police are still trying to determine the identity of the second person involved as the investigation continues.
