Road Rage suspect held for police

Just before 5:00 pm on Thursday, February 21, 2019 police began receiving calls from people who had witnessed a road rage incident on Main Street near Chief Peguis Trail. Police were told that the witnesses were holding the suspect driver after he had attempted to assault another driver.

Police say that the male suspect had been driving erratically and cut off a female driver on northbound Main Street. He then began slamming on his brakes causing several near collisions. He then changed lanes and drove next to the female driver he was targeting. As she moved ahead the male suspect slammed his vehicle into the rear end of hers. She lost control of the vehicle and ended up in a snow bank.

The male driver then entered the woman’s vehicle and demanded her information. The female driver told the man to get out of her car. The suspect then pointed a sharp metal object at her and began to lunge in her direction. Witnesses nearby grabbed the male and held him until police arrived.

The woman’s vehicle sustained severe damage and according to officers she did not require immediate medical attention.

The 29-year-old male suspect was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault with a weapon, Possess Weapon and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

He was released on a promise to appear in court.
