Winnipeg teen busted in St. Andrews home invasion

A 17-year-old Winnipeg male was arrested after an early morning home invasion in the RM of St. Andrews.

Police were called to a home on Norwood Road around 3:10 am this morning, June 18 ,2019 after a report of a robbery.

As officers responded to the call the emergency 911 operator updated them as the suspect forced his way into the home and had a knife. Police say that the operator could hear yelling.

As RCMP arrived on scene the suspect bolted from the home. Officers caught him and placed him under arrest.

A K-9 unit searched the area and was able to locate stolen goods and the knife involved in the home invasion.

The residents of the home , a 78-year-old male and a 77-year-old female were treated on the scene by paramedics. Neither required hospitalization.

The suspect has a number of charges pending including Robbery with a Weapon, Breaking and Entering with Intent, Disguised with Intent to Commit an Offence, Forcible Confinement, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Uttering Threats and Theft.

RCMP continue to investigate.
