“Risk of face plants”
The Red River Mutual Trail is closed once again this winter this time for unsafe ice conditions.
RRMT is closed until further notice. Recent snowfall has hidden cracks in the skating surface and could make for some epic face plants

Naturally occurring cracks that form on the surface of the river ice can be usually avoided when seen but due to the recent snowfall the cracks have become hidden.
This is the second time this winter that the river trail has had to close. In January above normal temperatures caused melting making the trail unsafe and sloppy.
According to the Forks website the conditions of the other trails and rinks around the Forks are also poor
Rink Under the Canopy – Poor
Hockey Rink in Festival Park Stage – Poor
1 km of skating trail on land
Trails near Festival Park Stage – Poor
Trail across rail bridge – Poor
CMHR Loop – Poor
