A 51-year-old robber is behind bars after a retired Winnipeg Police officer stepped in an apprehended him.
Police say that on February 1, 2018, just after 3:00 pm, Darren Roodney Remple allegedly robbed a business in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue.
According to police the suspect entered the business and said he had a weapon and demanded money. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash and took off.
The suspect then jumped into a running vehicle nearby and told the driver he had a weapon and demanded he be driven to a different location. The driver hopped out of the vehicle with his keys.
The former Winnipeg Police officer apprehended the suspect at this point and held him until patrol officers arrived.
Remple was charged with two counts of robbery and detained in custody.
