RCMP say that on April 1, 2020 they received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the RM of Brokenhead.
Just before 6:00pm a vehicle was spotted at a home on Road 38 E. Two men and a woman were seen unloading an ATV from a truck and trailer. When they were approached by the concerned citizen the suspects loaded the ATV back onto the trailer and sped off.
The witness followed the suspects as far the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 44 at which point the suspects got out of the pickup truck and slashed the tires of the concerned citizen.
Police in the area began patrols in the area searching for the truck.
The truck was spotted by around 6:45 pm on Highway 59 travelling southbound. Officers attempted a traffic stop but the suspect vehicle turned east onto Garven Road then onto Fairview Road which has a dead-end.
The suspects then reversed into a police unit and fled the scene.
Officers initiated a pursuit and chased the vehicle on Garven Road until the truck crashed into a ditch. The two males took off running but police were able to take the female into custody.
Soon afterwards police learned that two vehicles had been stolen a short distance away. Officers learned that one of the vehicles was speeding south on PR 207 and the other eastbound on Springfield Road.
Police spotted the vehicle on PR207 and pursued it to the intersection of Highway 1 when the stolen vehicle collided with a light standard. The driver fled on foot running westbound in the eastbound lane of Highway 1. Officers took the man into custody.
The third male was able to evade police.
A 26-year-old male and a 27-year-old female, both from Winnipeg, face a number of charges for their alleged involvement and remain in custody.
Officers continue to search for the third male as the investigation continues.
