REMAINS FOUND IN RM OF SPRINGFIELD IDENTIFIED AS CHRISTINE WOOD

On Thursday June 1, 2107 RCMP were called in after what appeared to be human remains were found in the RM of Sprinfield about 35 kilometres east of Winnipeg.
Upon further investigation it was determined that the remains are those of Christine Wood.
Wood went missing in the evening of August 19, 2016 in Winnipeg. She had been visiting the city with her family from Oxford house.
On April 7, 2017 police charged a 30 year old Winnipeg man, Brett Ronald Overby, with second degree murder in Wood’s death. Police had executed a search warrant in March 2017 at Overby’s home and although they didn’t have a body they had enough forensic evidence to lay charges.
