RCMP confirmed on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, that the remains found in Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation on August 11, 2020, belong to 56-year-old Bud Paul.
Paul had been reported missing to Winnipeg Police on August 7, 2020.
In a joint investigation between Manitoba RCMP, Winnipeg Police Service and Manitoba First Nations Police Service officers have been trying to trace Paul’s whereabouts in the days leading to his death and the discovery of his body in Roseau River.
Before Paul was reported missing he was seen on surveillance video on August 1 at a Manitoba Liquor Mart in Neepawa along with two other individuals – a male and a female.
On August 10th his vehicle was parked on Queen Street then set on fire. Police say that the male who parked the vehicle on Queen Street also discarded evidence in a nearby garbage bin. Investigators are still wanting to talk to the female who was in the vehicle when it was parked. They say “Finding her and speaking with her is essential to this investigation.”
On August 11, 2020 Paul’s body was discovered. Police returned to Roseau River on Tuesday October 13 in an effort to locate additional evidence.
Investigators say that they are very close to solving Paul’s death. They know that the people responsible for Paul’s death continued to access his bank account and use his cell phone after his death. Police need help to put the last few pieces together to solve his homicide.
