RCMP in Western Manitoba has identified the human remains found by a hunter near Highway 1A in the RM of Cornwallis just west of Brandon.
Police say they were called tot he area on October 26, 2019, just before 3:30 pm after a man hunting in a wooded area came across a bone he thought was human.
Officers searched the area with help from a Police Service Dog and located more bones in the area.
Police say the remains belong to 46-year-old Jason Riley who had been reported missing to Brandon Police Service in early May of this year.
The cause of death has not been determined.
Both the RCMP and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is continuing to investigate.
