Remains found in Red River were archaeological in nature

RCMP say that on Monday August 30, 2021, human remains were found near the shore of the Red River by the Lockport Bridge.

Further investigation by an anthropologist determined that the bones were archaeological in nature.

A smudging ceremony was held and the remains were removed for repatriation after consultation with First Nation’s leadership.
