A concern over salmonella contamination is the reason Old Dutch Foods Limited is recalling one of it’s potato chips.
Old Dutch brand cheddar and sour cream potato chips sold in 66 gram and 255 gram bags sold in Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Northern Ontario and British Columbia have been recalled.
The best before dates on the smaller bags that are of concern are August 10, 2016 through February 24, 2017. For the larger bags the the best before dates to look out for are August 10, 2016 through March 2, 2017.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says that the recall was triggered by a recall in another country.
To date there have been no reported illnesses associated with consuming the chips.
If you have a bag that has been recalled you should throw it out or return it to the store where it was purchased.
CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. If other high-risk products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings.
