IKEA Canada has recalled 19 different models of dressers because of stability issues.

In an email sent to IKEA Family Members Tuesday the company says that dressers purchased between 2002 and June 2016 are eligable for a full refund. Dressers purchased before 2002 are eligable for partial refunds.

Six children in the United States have been killed and more than 40 injured since 1989 by dressers after they have tipped over on them.

There have been no deaths or injuries in Canada due to dressers falling over

Consumers are urged to immediately stop using and move any unanchored IKEA chest of drawers into storage where they cannot be accessed by children until the chests of drawers are properly anchored to the wall or returned to an IKEA location. If customers have securely anchored their IKEA chests of drawers to the wall then they are fine to use and no further action is required.
