RCMP release Holiday Checkstop results

RCMP Manitoba has released the final results for 2019/2020 Holiday Checkstop Program.

During the four-week campaign officers set up 386 check stops across the province.

11,477 vehicles were checked.

80 people were charged with impaired driving, 67 from alcohol, two from drugs and 11 people for refusing the test.

24 drivers received tiered suspensions for alcohol consumption while three more received tiered suspensions for drugs.

Police also issued 17 immediate roadside prohibitions, 9 for failing the screening device, 6 for indicating a ‘warn’ and 2 for refusing the test.

RCMP also noted that over the last month 11 people lost their lives in nine traffic-related collisions.
