RCMP have sent their Underwater Recovery Team (URT) to Gilliam to search a section of the Nelson River in the ongoing manhunt for two suspects charged with the murder of a British Columbia man. The pair
Police have spent the last two weeks searching in the Gilliam area for Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmeglsky after the vehicle they were travelling in was discovered burned out just north of the community.
Police say that on Friday, August 2, 2019, a search of the Gilliam area by helicopter located a damaged aluminum boat on the shore of the river.
In a media release RCMP said they expect URT members to spend today, Sunday, August 4, 2019, searching a number of areas of interest in the river.

URT officers are highly trained divers with specialized training. They have access to advanced equipment to help when searching underwater.
RCMP say the dive area will be off-limits to media.
