RCMP shoot at fleeing vehicle during pursuit

RCMP are investigating an incident that happened Monday afternoon, March 2, 2020 that caused an officer to fire his sidearm at a suspect.

Police say they were called to a home in West St. Paul for a report of an armed distraught male who was threatening violence and had just taken off in a vehicle/

Officers located the suspect vehicle on the Perimeter Highway near Pipeline Road and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect refused to pull over.

Officers initiated a pursuit and followed the suspect to an area near King Edward Avenue where the suspect briefly stopped before continuing to flee.

One of the pursuing officers fired at and hit the vehicle.

The pursuit continued and eventually ended when the suspect stopped the vehicle once more. The male was taken into custody.

Police searched the suspect vehicle and found firearms and ammunition inside.

No one was hurt during the incident say RCMP.

The 29-year-old male suspect has not yet been charged but police say that charges are pending.

The investigation continues.
