A 20-year-old St. Catherines, Ontario male won’t be flying to Toronto as he originally planned after RCMP seized a large sum of money from his luggage and carry-on.
Police were alerted to the find by airport screening personnel at Winnipeg’s international airport early Friday morning, March 4, 2022.
RCMP estimate that the cash totalled more than $600,000.00.
Officers were able to identify the owner and found him in the departure area. Besides cash police also found numerous cell phones in the man’s carry-on luggage.
The accused was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement with Possession of Proceeds of Crime. He was detained in custody.
RCMP continue to investigate.
