Security cameras at the Thompson RCMP detachment captured the stabbing of an adult male by two teens on Friday September 22, 2023.

Police say that just before 11:00 pm officers on parol saw a man banging on the door to the RCMP detachment. Officers approached the male and learned he had been stabbed. They provided the man with emergency first aid while waiting for paramedics. The 30-year-old male was taken to hospital.

Officers followed the blood trail the the library nearby and realized that it was likely that the detachment’s cameras may have caught something. A review of the footage showed that the entire incident was captured.

Descriptions of the two suspects as seen in the video was relayed to other officers on patrol which resulted in a 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old male being located nearby. The 15-year-old tried to run from officers but was quickly apprehended. The other teen was arrested without incident. Officers located a weapon after searching the 15-year-old.

Both teen have been charged for their alleged involvement with Aggavated Assault and remain in custody.

The victim was taken to Winnipeg for emergency surgery where he remains in stable condition.
