Two men are safe after one of them was assaulted and the other kidnapped early Saturday morning, October 1, 2022, in the RM of Westlake-Gladstone.
Police say that around 4:30 am while one of the men was sleeping in the cab of a truck and the other in the camper in the bed, three men opened the door to the cab and yelled at the man to get out. The 33-year-old man was allegedly assaulted and threatened with a firearm. The three suspects got into the truck and drove off. In the process, they drove over the victim causing non-life threatening injuries. The victim was taken to the hospital.
Investigators say that the suspects were aware of the second man in the camper.
Police located the truck and camper shortly afterwards near Highway 16 and Highway 50. The suspects had fled the area.
The 69-year-old man from India who was in the camper was safely located.
Police say that the suspects were wearing dark clothing and could be Hispanic or Indigenous. One of the suspects was wearing a dark-coloured mask over his face.
