RCMP respond to three fatal collisions in less than 24 hours

Between 4:00 am on Sunday, August 16, 2020, and 1:00 am on Monday, August 17, 2020, Manitoba RCMP responded to three fatal collisions.

Just after 4:00 am Sunday police in Steinbach began an investigation after a westbound semi-truck collided with a pedestrian walking in the westbound lane of Highway 1 west of Richer.

A 46-year-old Steinbach man was declared dead at the scene.

A little more than 12 hours later Falcon Lake RCMP were investigating a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 1 about two kilometres west of the Falcon Lake exit.

Police say an eastbound vehicle on Highway 1 veered into oncoming traffic after going around a curve. The vehicle hit a pickup truck the continued on and crashed into a semi-truck.

The 20-year-old driver from Prince George, British Columbia died at the scene. On one else was injured in the collision.

At 1:00 am Monday morning officers responded to a rollover on Crane River First Nation.

Police say the 36-year-old male driver from Brandon failed to negotiate a turn, left the road and rolled. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police continue to investigate all three collisions.
