UPDATED STORY
On Saturday, May 27, 2023, RCMP were called to Sturgeon Falls in the Whitehall Provincial Park for the report of a possible drowning.
Police say that they were told a 12-year-old boy from Winnipeg was seen climbing down the rocks when he fell into the water. The youth went under the water in the rapids and was not seen resurfacing.
A by-stander jumped into the water to help but was unable to bring the boy to shore.
The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team, Manitoba Conservation Officers and Park staff were called to the scene.
RCMP reported that the body of the boy was found and recovered at approximately 1:00 am on Monday, May 29, 2023. Police continue to investigate
