An SOS beacon from an injured hiker on the Mantario Trail prompted RCMP to launch a rescue near Caribou Lake in Whitehall Provincial Park.
Officers responded minutes before 5:00 pm on Monday, September 18, 2023, after getting the GPS coordinates from the SOS beacon. Three officers used ATVs and a boat to get to the area where they located the injured 59-year-old man and brought him to safety.
During the rescue two RCMP officers sustained minor injuries.
The victim was checked and medically cleared by Emergency Medical Services.
