On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, RCMP released more information about the 2022 homicide of 37-year-old James Vernon Giesbrecht.
Police say that Giesbrecht’s remains were found in the trunk of a burned-out Honda Accord near the intersection of Road 108 West and Road 51 North in the RM of Cornwallis. RCMP said that the vehicle had been stolen from Regina Saskatchewan and had been seen in the Brandon area between October 5 and 13, 2022. The vehicle was located on October 13, 2022.
Investigators have completed a complete forensic examination of the vehicle with help from a Forensic Anthropologist from Brandon University. Physical evidence in the vehicle has been sent for DNA testing.
