RCMP release COVID-19 enforcement numbers

Manitoba RCMP released the number of COVID-19 enforcement calls between April 14 and April 20, 2020.

Police say that they received 101 calls related to COVID-19 with the majority of those being reports of ten or more people gathering an not respecting the public health orders.

RCMP say that most of the calls officers responded to either did not fall within their purview or were able to be resolved through education by responding officers.

Officers issued six verbal warnings to people who were not following the orders.

RCMP also charged three people connected to a single incident in The Pas on April 19, 2020.

In that incident police went to a home that was hosting a house party. Officers talked to the occupants but three of them became belligerent with police and disobeyed their directions. A 43-year0old female, a 26-year-old male and a 25-year-old female were all charged with Failing to Comply with a Provincial Emergency Order under the Emergency Measures Act.

All three were each fined $486.

RCMP are also asking Manitobans to not call 911 to report COVID-19 related issues. Outside the City of Winnipeg reports of non-compliance can be made by calling the Government of Manitoba Inquiry Line at 1-866-626-4862.
