Two men have been arrested in connection to a stolen side-by-side off-road vehicle in the RM of Lac du Bonnet on Friday, August 5, 2022.
RCMP were called after a stolen side-by-side was seen towing a trailer on a side road beside Highway 44.
Officers were able to track the off-road vehicle and an ATV to a nearby gravel pit. A 36-year-old man was quickly taken into custody. The other man tried to flee in the stolen ORV but could not get it started. He then tried to run away on foot but he was quickly captured.
31-year-old Matthew Martens has been charged for his alleged involvement with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possessing Break-In Instruments, Possessing Weapons Contrary to Order, and Resisting Arrest. The 36-year-old male faces similar charges.
Both the ORV and ATV were stolen. The trailer being pulled by the ORV was full of stolen property from a break-in in the RM of Renolds that had not yet been reported to police.
Police say the estimated value of the property that was recovered is between $20,000.00 and $30,000.00.
